Zuber in excellent second place

Andreas Zuber finishes first day of testing in

Paul Ricard in excellent second place

Andreas Zuber has every reason to be content with his first GP2-testing in 2008. The 24-year-old Styrian soon got acquainted with the new car by Piquet Sports and completed about 50 rounds on the circuit Paul Ricard (Le Castellet) from 9.00 in the morning to 17.00 in the late afternoon. With 1:12,652 Zuber reached the second-fastest time of the day behind Ben Hanley (GB/Campos).

Zuber: “The car already felt quite good. In the beginning we’re testing all functions one by one. Compared to last year I have much more grip at the front. Thus the drivability is improved, as well. Unfortunately a lot of cars were on the circuit today so that I almost never had a free round.”

The Styrian was also hampered by the flu and slight fever. But physio-coach Erwin Göllner will do his best to get his charge back in shape until Friday morning. The second day of testing this season will commence on Friday at 9.00.

Times of the first day of testing at Paul Ricard

1. Ben Hanley (GB/Campos) 1:12,652

2. Andreas Zuber (A/Piquet Sports) 1:12,729

3. Mike Conway (GB/Trident Racing) 1:12,757

4. Bruno Senna (Bra/iSport international) 1:12,794
