Andreas Zuber banks on the team of “Piquet Sports” in the coming GP2 season Thus the Styrian enters his third complete season in the second highest motor sports class on circuits Just before Christmas Andreas Zuber had tied up his bundle for next year’s GP2 season. The 24-year-old Styrian will fight for Championship points in the team of Piquet Sports. The decisive factor for this had been successful sponsorship negotiations during the last weeks. “I had several opportunities thanks to the successful GP2 tests in November. After a lot of consideration I decided in favour of Piquet Sports since this team had been vice-champion in this series in 2006 with Nelson Piquet. It is a highly professional team which can help me to reach my goals”, explains Andreas Zuber. Zuber: “I am completely confident that this team will provide me with a correspondingly fast car. Thus it should be possible to further improve my balance in the GP2 series. So far I celebrated one respective victory in the years 2006 in Istanbul and 2007 in Silverstone.” The Styrian’s expectations for 2008 are obviously higher. Recent years have proven that the GP2 series is an ideal stepping stone for Formula 1. “I expect a very balanced championship this year. Many drivers have already gathered experience at Formula 1 tests and and compete in several very strong teams in the GP2 series. Therefore it would be presumptuous to picture myself as winner already. But I want to be counted among the favourites in any case and plan to confirm this.” |
