Andreas Zuber is ready for first GP2 victory this season in Budapest
Piquet Sports has made a lot of progress during the last two runs
Next weekend Andreas Zuber will compete at his home run in the GP2, so to say. Traditionally there are a lot of Austrian fans at the runs 13 and 14 on the Hungaroring in Mogyorod near Budapest who will do their best to cheer the Moser Medical Group driver on to his first victory in the GP2 this season. The signs are good since Zuber proved by his second place in the sprint race on the Hockenheimring that Piquet Sports is able to compete with the best. "The team worked very hard in July and did a great job. My car got faster with each race. Now we are only missing a tiny bit on the top. And I think that we'll be able to make this up until Budapest. In any case, we know exactly what we have to do", explains Andreas Zuber.
The Formula 1-wisdom that it is extremly hard to overtake on the Hungaroring is not necessarily true for the GP2, according to the Styrian: "In our series there are quite a lot of opportunities, especially since the wear of the tyres has a lot more influence on the lap times. If you go easy on your material you will have enough reserves at the end of the run."
Following his above mentioned second place in Hockenheim, Zuber's best result this season, he is ready for the first victory. "I want to realise this perfomance in the main run, as well. If we are among the top five in the qualifying then not only a place on the podium but victory itself is possible." The Austrian celebrated his last full success last year in Silverstone. In the season 2007 Andreas Zuber scored 30 points overall. In 2008 he has reached 24 points so far with eight runs still to come. Zuber: "I naturally want to top last year's score already in Budapest. If so, I could also move up in the overall ranking quite decisively." Currently it is still a close race in the GP2. Third-placed Frenchman Romain Grosjean, for instance, lies only ten points ahead of the Moser Medical Group driver.
The circuit in Budapest consists of 14 turns and has a length of 4,381 kilometres.
